Managed transportation can be described as the outsourcing of logistics services as a whole, segment, or individual piece to a third party logistics (3PL) provider. The process allows the 3PL to act as an extension of the partner organization to obtain rates, facilitate the movements, and handle the day to day activities involved in the shipments.
